[TomP] fuel pump relay/oil switch and other things
Ya know Tom they should give you your own sections.
Start a new thread called "Ask TomP"
Talking a few days back about how it take 2-3 times before my fuel pump primes.
I did replace my pump relay but looking in the book and the wiring. What ever they sold me was not the pump relay.
Not even sure what relay it was or is, but its next to the pump relay. But it has all tan wires.
pump relay has a big red big black , two green and a tan.
Now my pump relay connector looks like it has been hot before and its kinda melted. Still useable but it has been hot. The relay looks as if it did short out and also got hot.
I am goingto try and find the right replacement relay.
is there a way to bypas the relay?
Can i just hook the fuel pump to the keyswitch?
Would a toggle switch be better?
I will try and fix it right but if not I will hook it to the key or a manual switch.
any idea how the wiring for the relay works?
If I could I would like to replace the whole connector but Where would you find that part. Most junk yards keep al lwiring with the engines.
Maybe i can just cut the wires and weld the leads to the relay pins?
I do get the code 54 but I have ignored it for 3-4 years since the car ran fine.
I only replaced the relay when I had other problems. But today I found out what I replaced was not the relay.
