Cyl Heads

How hard is it to rebuild the cyl heads with new springs and rockers and all? What parts will I need? What special tools will I have to get?

Is it worth it to find a place to pick up remanufactured heads? If so, does anyone know a good place to get them?

Thanks.

Rebuilding the heads with new valve and springs and stem seals is not hard if you have a valve spring compressor and can get the valves, spring retainers, etc. The problem comes in if the head itself is warped or the seats are damaged. There are also issues if the head is cracked. The most cost effective solution would be to remove the rocker arms and studs and take the heads to a reputable machine shop. They can check for cracks, clean and do a full valve job for around $300. I am not sure how much remanufactured heads go for but many stores and shops can order them.

Here is who machines my cylinder heads. They do an excellent job
