well

you can start off by using the search button on the forum,

Air filter is probally around 50 bux usd. then you use 3" pvc pipe, but if you have a MAF (mass air flow sensor) you got to make sure it is plugged in.

sorry I couldn't be any more help.

I think I ended up paying around 35-40 dollars american for mine using a ***** air filter. The difference between it and a K&N as far as filtration is concerned isn't noticeable but it's almost half the price and looks ok as long as you can find a regular chrome topped one and not one of those horrible hot pink or neon colored ends. I'll type up some instructions for you if you'd like and I'll get some pictures of mine up tommorow. It looks pretty bad right now because I couldn't find (read: was too lazy to look for) any black 3" PVC but I plan on painting it body color sometime soon. Make sure, if you decide to build your own, that you get the PVC with thin walls and not the thick walls or else you'll have a heck of a time getting the filter on. I ended up mangling the filter neck and just wrapped the end with half a roll of electrical tape after working for an hour and a half just trying to get it on the end piece.

KN filter about $35
hose clamps free
plumbing sections about $7
short piece of rubber hose free

measured available area for filter and found best match on KN site. cut the sharp bend going into maf off. temp sensor hanging for now. Then just make it all fit. secured with zip ties (for now).

Next step isolate filter area from rest of engine bay to keep out hot air and funnel some fresher outside air in.

course with a camaro you might have to do something different, but you get the idea.
