If you're using a computer/laptop it's possible that you might have the option of automatic gain adjustment. If this is true, it will turn the volume down on the mic when the input gets louder... Just my $.02

That could very possibly be true... Does the computer playback audio at normal volumes?

No my sound card is fine. The only reason that the comp even has it is so that it can relay music to my sterio in the garage. I got it recording, but I was also recording in an enclosed space, with very poor acutics. It is ok when idling, but when I rev the recording gets static. Really doe snot matter, as the comp is now refusing to see that the CD rom is a Burner, and the comp in the house has a bad A: drive...
