Can I do this???
Well its about time to get the 86 on the road
!!! I'm going to replace the cracke distributor cap and that nasty a** fuel filter this weekend. Then it will be off to the local vo tech school to massage the body. My question is -- How bad is it to drive without a dipstick tube? I still have found nothing on how to extract the remains from the block. I have driven it around the development a little and have not noticed any leaks. Is this safe or should I get this done before I take it over?

HAHA, I tell you how I did mine, but it was out of the truck. I assume its snaped off at the block right?? I sprayed it down GOOD with wd40, took a mild dent puller, gently threaded it in. Tugged it a few times. Mine came out. Then I put new one in. And put some oil system flush in it to clean out any possible shavings that got in it, changed oil. Seems to be doing fine. Hope this helps, or gets the mind moving.

I'll keep this in mind when I do attempt to change it. I just need to know if its okay to drive the thing without one (aside from the obvious lack of knowing how much oil is in there). Thanks for the tip!!

I would attempt to stuff something down it to plug it. IF its not to far a drive, I would just make sure its full, slightly over full, and take it.
