Backfiring... from TB
Well, I pulled off the intake hose and ran the car, and it seems like there is definitely a backfire or some sort of popping coming from what seems like the TB opening. What could cause this?
Remember, I just tore apart the motor to the head gaskets for a replacement...

I had a vacuum leak that caused the same thing. Check for the vacuum hose from the back of the plenum to the brake booster. If all your vacuum lines are good, then I would check the timing.
