That looks really good! It kind of makes it look like metal! Nice job, are you going to paint underneath it as well? I mean the metal part that looks like it's kind of rusting. I got that rust around my battery I need to get that fixed soon! Great job though!

Excellent job on the wood! I'd park my car next to it too! I like the medium tone.. is that paint, or a stain?

Seriously, the intake looks good! Is that a chrome or a gunmetal color? And is that air box really that smooth, or did you have to sand it down? Looks good! Oh and if you didn't paint those other parts yellow/green, maybe the person before you didn't use the right paint... try spraying brake cleaner on them- but be prepared to wipe up any dripping paint before it falls on your motor.

Try http://www.por-15.com for a great rust-stopping chemical paint. I used it on my axle, and it came out great. Seemed strange to apply it with a paintbrush, but the stuff flows so thinly, the paintbrush allows even coverage, AND you can work the paint into little nooks and corners that spraying equipment might not reach. I used the Super Starter Kit in semi-gloss; was enough to give my axle two coats.

But the part underneath the air box looks like it's red overspray, not rust...

that orange/red dusty stuff is overspray from when i had the car painted hugger. and i sanded down the intake a bit cause it had overspray on it too.

and that wood beside the driveway is stained, with SIKKENS if you know what it is. and it has rope lights on it so i can see good when i come home to the driveway at night

do you have some more close-ups of the yellow interior? What sort of paint was it that you used? I'd love to do that sort of thing in blue on my car.

That looks really cool.
Infact I am going to look an 86 SC today or tomorrow. So If it
is in good enough shape I might buy it. Then do what you did
to the intake box.

Looks sharp man.

I'm pretty sure it's from the battery acid. I think the previous owner got some of it on the metal all around the battery! So someday, I will sand and repaint. Otherwise, great job on painting the intake!

Nice job on the intake. I like that feeling when you take something old, refinish it, paint it, and then put it back with the rest of the old stuff. I painted my charcoal canister, ac bracket, alternator bracket, and windshield washer pump in a bright blue color. I like the way it looks, but unfortunately my car is marroon, which doesn't exactly match. Blue is my favorite color and it soothes my eyes so everytime I work on my engine, I don't have to constantly look at shades of black and dirt. It makes working in the engine bay a little more exciting in my opinion.
