mysteriou surges and idle flucations answers here.

ok class i am a ASE mater tech with GM chrysler and ford certs.

when working with gm cars there are sevral very big itrems to look at first.

1. is iac or Idle Air control passage clean ??? if not clean. also clean the pintle tip as well.
2. check for vacum line leaks or intake gasket leaks(also to note the MAF hoses are quite prone to splitting)
3. after doing the above disconnect the battery.
4. jump pins a-b on the ALDL conector and turn the key to run(donot start the engine)keep in run postision with BATTERY RECONNECTED for 60 secs.
5. disocnect battery again for 30 secs. to erase any idle logic.
6. remove jumper form ALDL link.
7. reconnect battery start car put car in gear immediately hold it there for 60 secs. this will reteach any needed idle logic. then put car in nuetral and let idle for 60 sec.

if you have any problems that are not corrected with the above siad procedure we will have to discuss the problem in depth. but until these steps are prefformed yr just wasting time and money.

sorry i forgot to adress the manual folks in the house. just let it idle in gear for a minute or so. also as a foot note make sure the vehicle is at a normal operating temp.

And which two inputs are "A" and "B" if your looking straight at it? I usually just jumper it and get codes, but from habit. So are A and B different than what I jump to get the codes?

On my s10 its the two upper right ones. The haynes/chiltson manual should show you.

correct uper 2 on the right use a paper clip or such my surge and major lose of power was a broken connector on my spark plug boot changed plugs got to the last one went to take it off and poof the conector was still attached to the plug but the wire was in my hand haha
that fixed it. Al my problems are now is dirty injectors and 484,000 miles i work at pepboys in the service department as a service writer so i don't have any problems getting the injectors cleaned haha just haven't done it
