v6 to v8 misunderstanding

I did a search before and saw that you need to change the engine/trans/raditor/what not.. what would the actual cost of putting a v8 be as opposed to rebuilding the v6.. would it be equal to or just a tad bit more? More then once i've heard "just put an 8 in"... what am I missing.. is this an easy/cheap job in everbody's mind but mine?

unless your engine, tranny and radiator are all screwed...i'd say it's hard to justify doing the swap...If your gonna do the V8 swap it's just as hard and about the same price to go with the 350 instead of the 305...as far as the swap goes, if you know (at least somewhat) what you are doing (and it helps if you have a donor car to look at) then it's pretty straight forward....it's not like you have to have custom work and modifications done to the engine bay to get it to work...

yeh, v8 swaps take a lot of work. I did post something called the sloppy swap that worked, in which a friend of mine left his exisiting radiator in the car and v6 rearend, then swapped in an LS1 v8 and six speed transmission. There's a nice list of stuff you'll need for any six to eight swap, but it's not undooable, just think of what you really wnat out of the car, and how much the car is truly worth toyou
