Damn Shops
Now I know why I hate taking cars to shops. The tranny in my camaro was to be done Thrusday the 8th. They just started working on it this morning. They claim 3 employees walked out last week. WTF, why did they not call and tell me it would be delayed. Now their talking it can be done tonight. A rebuild in one day?? I am no tranny expert, but I highly doubt this. Argh, Pisses me off!!!!!!!! Sorry, had to vent!!

Ouch dude, that sucks. How much they charging you? An experienced trans guy can rebuild one in a day, especially if they've done it before and have the right tools. Are they actually rebuilding yours, or are they putting a rebuilt in?

not sure what their doing. I am paying 750. After all this they better give my a$$ a discount. And they were the most recommended. I dont think I will be refuring them to anyone.
well better to have it done right though... Alot of the "home shops" I have come accross are rip off guys. They called a freind of mine and said a "scheader valve" broke inside the valve body and the it had to be replaced. LUCKILY I was there when they called. He hung up with them talked to me, and I said go there with a tow truck right now and get you damn car away from those idiots. Lucky for my freind the trans was torn down by them, so the next shop only charged 450? maybe for finishing the job.
My frind asked what a scheader valve was and I told him the tire air valve basically. I know I have never came accross a Trans valve body that had one of those in it. Springs and ball bearings yes, those things...

yeh, tranny work can be rough if you don't get a good group of folks doing it. I was lucky, for 800 bux i had a complete rebuild, took two days i believe, they dropped the tranny built it, and reinstalled for that price, it also included a larger boost valve, vette servo, and a shift kit...transgo i believe, doesn't do much, but the boosted line pressure works wonders on that 700r4....hehe, gotta love it.

What really gets me is that out of 10-11 people 8 said to take it to this place. They have been in biz for about 5 years from what I hear, and if the local chevy dealer gets backed up, they take it to this place. I asked around, I was willing to pay the higher price for a more reputalble shop. Still haven't got it back. IF they did finish it yesterday, I wasn't able to get it anyway. Hopefully it will be done today so I can drop the muffler n $hit on it this weekend before parts for my s10 come in. Wish me luck!!!
