How the heck is one supposed to get the PS pump tight?

I've had this problem since I got the car... the PS pump never seems to be tight enough... well yesterday I took my AC belt off (it doesn't work, less mass for the engine to spin) and the PS belt had to come off...

I figured no problem I'd be able to get it tight enough...

Well now at accelerating RPMs and turning the belt is slipping and I'm loosing some of my power assist...

How the **** can I get that belt tighter... I used a lever to pry it tight... but now it's worse... I don't get it...

Help...

You just gotta use a lever; not too much help out there... kinda sucks.. I wind up retightening my belt two or three times in a row because it doesn't seem tight enough. What sucks is, there's nothing really sturdy to pry against... especially the power steering pump, we can't pry against the plastic reservoir or we might crack it!

I poked a hole in a tank once. using a crowbar to try and tighten the belt.

took alot of blue rtv and a big *** bolt.

Did you try a new belt? Tight is right. Too tight is broken.

It's not too tight, believe me...

I'm jealous of how tight redZ28chik can get her belts... here I am limping along...

It has nothing to do with it being a new or old belt at all (belt is a year old)... there is still plenty of room to have it adjusted right...

i'll see if I can't enlist my fathers help tomorrow and give it another try...

Yes, that nut was missing on mine as well, however I discovered that and put one on about 9 months ago...
