Transmission Coolers

I saw one at Pep Boys the other day for $40. How hard is it to install one of these? I was thinkin of gettin one before I take a trip to Bakersfield in October. I know my feels a lot more responsive in the mornings when the tranny hasn't heated up yet. Will this help me keep the tranny fluid cooler, longer?

I've looked at the article on the site, I just want to hear your guys' opinions on how to install. And I know you're thinkin to ask the tranny board guys... I know you guys will answer my quesetions just as well as those guys.

Edit: It says I might have to remove the radiator because I have A/C, so I might as well ask you guys for the P/N of the 180 Stant thermostat...

Your car feels more responsive in the mornings because cooler air makes more power , your engine is not heated up yet . Plus the temp (weather temp) is usually cooler in the mornings . Just walk in Advance , prabably most parts stores will have them and pick up a 180 stat . You really dont need a part number , when I got mine I just flossed on up in there and got it off the shelf . As far as pulling the radiator out of your car because of having ac . Im not sure about that , but I know I have put a new radiator in my car and it took me like 10 mins , its nothing to do . Go have fun , and let us know how things go !

edit : of course as you see in my sig , I dont have a 180 stat , i have a 160 , but i bought a 180 and never put it in there , but when i got it from the parts store , I asked the guy at the counter , if it would work and he said yeah , its the same size , and just like my hypertech 160 stat in the car .

The trans coolers are pretty easy to install (don't believe their ad saying "installs in one hour" ). Having one definitely increases the life of the transmission (many trans shops require you run one after a rebuild). You shouldn't have to remove your radiator as the trans cooler is most efficient when it';s mounted as far forward as possible (i.e. attached to AC Condenser)
