V8 To 6cyl Swap

I WAS JUST CURIOUS ABOUT THESE TYPES OF SWAPS, WHEN SOMEONE DOES THIS HOW DO THEY GO ABOUT SMOGGING THEIR CAR, BECAUSE WHEN THEY INPUT THE VIN INTO THE COMPUTER DOESNT IT TELL THE COMPUTER WHAT TYPE OF ENGINE AND THE EMMISSIONS RANGE IT SHOULD BE PUTTING OUT. BECAUSE I LIVE IN CA. AND WOULD ONE DAY LIKE TO PUT A V8 IN MY 90 FIREBIRD AND BE ABLE TO LEAGALLY DRIVE IT AND NOT WORRY ABOUT SMOG.

i think you mean a swpa from an 6 to a 8.. and where you re in CA you will probably have to hook up the emissions stuff to pass././

Yeah, you gotta get your car certified as a smog legal swap. Then I think you probably just have a paper or something you take to the smog test facility and then they test it as an 8 not a 6. There's also a fee associated with getting your swap certified, as if it didn't cost enough just to do the swap in the first place.:lala:
