Stock 2.8 '88 intake path?
What's so bad about the stock intake on my '88 Camaro? It seems to be pulling cold air, from in front of the radiator. It's got these two smaller square filters - wouldn't a set of K&N's work really well on that stock setup, or am I better off going with new routing for a CAI?

From what I understand, there is nothing wrong with it.
This intake was used on the TPI V8 Camaros too. It is definitely pulling cold air in. Also, many Camaros and Firebirds have an air damn just under the radiator that forces air up in front of the radiator - since the intakes are up there too, it is pushing air to them.
I've got a 1987 Camaro SC and a 1989 Camaro RS, both with 2.8 V6's and both have the dual snorkel intake. I've put K&N 33-2008 (I think that was the P/N) filters in both of them ($33 a piece x4!) and I did notice a VERY slight increase in "pep" - although it might very well be in my head.
I think it would be best to just stick with the intake you have and get some K&Ns. You could also build the "free" RAM air setup:

The stock daul intake on the Camaro's is a really good system. Many people build there own ram air because the Firebirds did not come with such a great system, and its hard to find the dual intake Camaro.
As well many people out there could fab there own one, that probably works better then even the dual camaro. Its just a know how thing I guess.

I really like that ram air mod - I'll be doing that with 2x K&N's (2008, yes - $28 apiece @ Discount Auto) and we'll see how that goes!
