where does this hose go to ?
The hose that comes from the side of the water pump and goes into that round thing on the passenger side engine . There is a small hose on the top of it , thats suppose to hook up somewhere , I cant figure out where its suppose to go . I looked on my Vacumn diagram under the hood and in my haynes manual and still cant figure it out . Do any of you guys know where this hose hooks up to ? This makes my SES light come on which is EGR . Which , I dont think it hooks right up to my EGR , but that other round cylinder shape thing on the side of it maybe I hope you guys can understand this but I cant think of a better way to explain it . Thanx as always guys !
I know what your talking about. I had to replace that dam cheap pice of junk twice. It is your heater control valve. If it breaks you lose all of you collant really quik!!!
The vacum hose on top controls the valve. If I remember corectly it acctually goes into a wire harness, belive it or not. No the extra vaccum leak can cause a code 32 becuase you lose enough vaccum that your EGR valve can't operate corectly 100% of the time.
I never looked to see were the vaccum line goes to after it's in the wire harness. If I have some spare time at work tomarrow I will pop the hood and see if I can find out.

It's a stupid piece.. made out of some kind of cheap fiberglass or plastic? They always break at the heater hoses. They started appearing on '87-up f-bodies. 82-86, including mine, doesn't have 'em. You don't -need- them. Like AFrikanGoodTime said before, GM put them in to make the a/c work cooler- the valve only lets hot coolant go into your heater core when you've got the selector on "heat". But the a/c will still be cold if you get rid of the valve.
I don't even have the steel piping going to the heater core (along the passenger side main frame rail) anymore. I replaced all that crap with regular 'ol hoses. I had to replace one of those stupid factory "question mark shaped" rear core hoses once, in January, in the cold. Damn hose wouldn't go on, took forever. I actually caught the flu because of it. Now, it's easy as cake to replace a heater hose!
(And I put that funky fake-stainless-steel-braid hose covers on them, too.)
