I would never buy a used engine with out looking at it.
Look at www.car-part.com for your state and get something you can go look at.

$200-$400
EASY!
SERIOUSLY
Nice thought.
FIND IT LOCALLY
YOU WANT TO PUT YOUR HANDS ON IT and know history.
You're gonna spend atleast $1,000 for a rebuild ontop of the shipping costs.
FOR WHAT?
Helping this guy move his trash.
Being real, & serious.
Find it local.
Hell, ya can get rebuilt & swapped in 2.8 engines for under $1,000 in an S-10 Blazer out here in Los Angeles.
YOU CAN FIND A 3.4 LOCALLY.
Put same effort into finding the right local option.
Make it low milage & non-rebuilt.
People have paid as low as $200 for a complete 3.4 long block.
I pay opposite $800 & $900 for a complete from running car (44K & 50K miles per my 3.4) I seek no rebuilding costs, only swapping & upgrading/replacement costs.
Another wise option is to get a new 3.4 long block.
You have all the parts.
ONLY NEED 3.4 injectors (even FWD cars have them) & proper flywheel/flewplate for your tranny.
New goes for $1700, a fair deal, too.
No, sometimes the right option isn't cheap, either.
Shame ya don't live in San Francisco. Sure is nice up there. I try to visit often.
