Well, the first problem sounds like a bad MAF sensor. Does it shut off when you slow down to come to a stop? (Another one of those instances where a bad sensor doesn't cause the SES (service engine soon) light to come on!)
Why do you think your rear main seal is gone? Do you have an oil leak from the back of the engine? I bet you a beer that it's not the rear main seal... instead, it's probably your distributor shaft seal. It's a one-inch inside-diameter O-ring that dries up over time. It gets a million little cracks in it, and doesn't make a good seal anymore; oil starts dripping out of the back of your motor. The oil runs down the back of the block and drips around the back of the crankshaft. So if you pull the flywheel inspection cover and look at the back of the crank, you'll see oil around the crank, and that makes most people think "rear seal!" You can buy an o-ring from a real parts store (not a pep boys or autozone or strauss or etc) for $0.50, or, I found a pack of 5 o-rings for $1.25 at Pep Boys. The pack was in metal drawers in their hardware aisle, right next to the lugnut drawers and brake bleeder drawers. As long as the o-ring is "one inch inside diameter" (or 1" I.D.), it'll work. 'Fact, most of the idiots behind the counter at pep boys (or autozone or similar) will have no idea what an o-ring is or where to get one. A "real" auto parts store (where mechanics go to, with unpainted concrete floors, and dirty parts lookup books, where you can bring a cigar into and they dont care) will have a red box behind the counter- a whole assortment of o-rings. So they'll take one out of the box and charge you 50 cents for it- a little much, but at least they'll know what the hell an o-ring is.
You have to pull the distributor to get at it. Do you have any kind of shop manual? I recommend the Haynes 82-92 Camaro manual for the first-timer, but you should definately invest in the real GM service manual, published by http://www.helminc.com , in fact, if you look under the "oxygen sensor and fuel injector" message, I give a ton of links from ebay that sell these manuals for cheap.
Broken bolts on the manifold, remove the manifold, and untwist the bolts with some liquid wrench or PB blaster sprayed on them, and a pair of vise grips. They should unscrew easily. Seems like the exhaust manifold warps from the heat and snaps the bolt heads off... and the bolts will probably be very loose. I've done this on three sets of heads so far. (My car's, a friend's 2.8 Camaro, and a spare set of heads in my basement.) Click here to do a (it's also in the upper right corner of this screen), search for "exhaust manifold bolts", choose the V6 forum, and you'll find more messages about this.
And welcome to the board!!
