Hey guys, Back in late June I was racing and my car shut off and my oil light came on, I checked my oil and everything was fine, I drove my car back home with a little bit of a tapping noise at high RPM'S, I drove it for another month till middle of July when my car started hammering really loud. The car starts up just fine, Just raps and hammers, I am thinking I need a rebuild, I bought myself a fast car for the mean time but I will be gettin the motor rebuilt if that's what it is. It's a 2.8 V6 4 spd auto. The poor thing's been sitting in my driveway for 3 months and it get's me sad, Can someone help?

 

i think you probably spun a bearing. you can try draining your oil and if there is metal in it...then you will need to rebuild

 

What if there are no metal bits in the oil?

 

it's prolly spun anyway. Have a good mechanic just listen to it, he'll tell you if it's Rod Knock or what. If it's a good loud hammering, I'm betting you need a crank kit!

 

when my connecting rod snapped it sounded like that but the oil light never came on...
