I assume you mean the MAF, and ya cant. It's extremely important. You need to either come up with some way to make yourself an intake while leaving it there, or convert the MAF over to an MAP system.. I think there's an article on doing it somewhere here..not sure how easy it is.

Wait...I'm confused...describe your intake to me and this sensor so I can know what you mean. You could be talking about either the IAT (I think thats what it's called) or the MAF.... The IAT one is a spark plug looking thing.. The MAF is a big housing that air passes through, with a little filament in the middle. The IAT you can kinda move whereever as long as it's connected..doesnt have to be in the intake system..but the MAF has to be in the path of the airflow.

If you are talking about the IAT sensor, mine is strapped next to my radiator. No way of getting rid of the MAF if you have one.

this is how to work w/the MAF. I haven't drilled in the IAT in place yet, but will be in that 90* bend.

edit: I really need to see about resizing these things

underneath. I cut a hole in the "other battery tray", where the evap-canister is. I am gonna make some sheilding for it, as the back of it is exposed to the front tires. The fender well doesn't cover the entire front partr of the wheel well. it will get fresh air from under neath the nose, and a little ducting work

That's what I thought, I just did expect you to completly seal of the hole. It's an interesting location.

What I don't understand is, if he managed to swap out his blown dodge engine and trans and put back his 2.8 and 700R4 in one week, it would seem like he might know a little more about air intake systems.

pictures of that blown engine yet?

Project..GREAT intake location..considered it myself but I may have to sell my car so I didn't want to do anything I couldn't readily undo to its body, no matter how minor.. Looks like you did a wicked job though..how's it pick up?
