With the other vehicles in your sig, I don't know if I would hop it up at all. My dad has a 1991 GMC Sonoma with the throttle body 2.8 and a 5 speed. It has over 312K on it, and has not had any engine work done, other than water pump, cap, rotor, plugs, wires,... the usual stuff. I beleive I would just tune it up really good and drive the crap out of it. If you are serious about hopping it up, one of the best, and cheapest, things you could do would be to pirate a 3.73 geared rear out of an S10 with the 4 cylinder engine. Most of mid to late 80s 4 banger trucks had the 3.73, but I think that they put you back to a 3.23 or maybe even a 3.08 when you opted for the V6. I know that right now, the junkyards around here have a bunch of them, and they typically only ask 80-100 dollars for one of those. That gear would decrease your fuel mileage some, but would really help it off the line. If you can, get the speedometer gears out of the trans when you get the rear so that your speedometer will read right.

Yeah I aggree with pontiacguy1, you might as well leave it stock. But you can buy headers for your S-10 if you want a little more power. You could do a cam too.

But what you should do is save your money up, and sell your truck and get something with a bit more power if thats the problem. Like a 4.3L instead. I know the 2.8's lack in teh 4x4 combination.
