Testing Injectors
Testing Injectors
Okay guys, this may have a very simple answer, but I'm not 100% how to go about doing this. Could someone tell me the full/entire process to test my fuel injectors?? Much Thanks In Advance!!!!!!

I am not 100% sure how to do this. So I am going to send this back to the Top for the more expierence to answer.
For one, you have to remove the upper plenum to get to the injectors. This makes testing them a pain and most people won't test them because of this. Plus you need TB and plenum gaskets.
Second, you need a fuel pressure gauge and a tool like the one shown here: http://www.actron.com/cgi-bin/web_st...9.htm&cart_id= With this tool you can do injector balance tests. Basically you can manually pulse any injector and record the pressure drop. All injectors should be within 5 Kpa of each other.
Also, injectors can show OK on the balance test but could still be shorted internally. For this you'd need a injector coil tester/voltage drop tester like the one shown here (pricey) :

Oh yeah, this isn't the greatest test but......you can use a regular Ohmmeter and check the resistance of each injector. A bad one might not show up on this test, but say you test them and 5 injectors have 7 ohms resistance and 1 has 1 ohm.....then you know that one injector is bad.
