How much would I be able to pick up a new assembly/motor for? Replacing my brake lights the other day, I removed the cover panel and lo and behold, a broken power hatch assembly. No wonder I have to slam the holy hell out of my trunk to close it..the motor is shot and the assembly is collapsed all the way down. Maybe I'll just pry and wedge the thing up on the rails and put some metal or something under it to keep it lifted up......

Check with the board member Lonsal. He (owns?) Top down solutions and rebuilds and warranties his hatch pulldowns.
Last time I checked, Next gen had the whole assembly for about $400
.
You could always scour the yard and get Lucky -- I did with my 86.

I got the "best" hatch motor Lonsel has, and it is working great. Had to adjust the latch's and such, took me an hour or so.

Hmm......about the price I expected. That'll go on my 'to buy' list...after tires and an alignment...
