Todays Story!!!

Ok so last night I left work all happy and sh*t
b/c well it's a New Year and
well you all once again saved me some cash

(with the info on the DLC connector you all provided
:hail: :hail: )

ok so I left work on time for like the first time in the last 3 years
I figured I’d head over to my bud's house (he has a garage)
and give this DLC thing a go
earlier I gave him a call so he pulled his wife’s car out the and
made plenty of room for us to play around in (his words not mine)
so anyway when I get outside
by some freak chance I got parking right in front
(as opposed to the normal 5-10 blocks away)
anyway the ****ing car just would not turn over
my battery just died on me
I’m talking DEAD!!!!
we tried with the booster pack for 25 min and nothing
after that I just went home had a drink and fell out

this morning I swapped in an old batt my uncle had in his wrecked Chevy and she started right up

so I guess at some point today I’ll go out and
remove the two tickets from the front window
(gotta love fu(king Bloomberg)
the large no parking sticker from the side window
and go out and get a new Battery

then at some point this weekend
I get to try to pull some trouble codes

So what is the best battery out there for our cars now a day's

Believe it or not, there are only two battery manufacturers out there in the world. Johnson Controls and Exide. Everyone else buys batteries off of them and puts their label on it. Given that info, just get one that has a good warranty and a free replacement period for the first two or three years.

Only one I'll buy is an Interstate. And I wouldn't put in an Exide if it was given to me.

When you buy a battery, they all have a sticker on the side of them when they were made like A2, C1, or J2. The letter is the month and the number is the year it was made.

Examples

A2= Jan. 02
C1= Mar.01
J2= Oct 02

Most people don't know this and will buy a "new" battery of the shelf that is already a year or two old. There was a company here in So.Calif. called Poloris that made there own batteries and didn't add water to them until you bought it. You'd have to come back in an hour or two so they could have time to charge it.

There's three other manufacturers of their own batteries:

Interstate
AC/Delco
Sears

Most of those walmart and pep boys batteries are all made by someone else. I've got a big friggin Interstate in the car. Don't look at CA (cranking amps) when going for a battery, look at CCA - cold cranking amps. Even then, some of the cheaper batteries "inflate" those numbers, they might check CCA at 30 degrees instead of 0 degrees. Basically, don't go cheap on a battery, because it'll wind up being a cheap battery.

another vote for interstate batteries here only ones worth puttin the cash down for they may cost $30 more initially but if you love your car (or hate buying batteries) get the interstate. I left the lights on in my old s-10 that had a 73 vette 350 in it overnight went out the next morning and it started up that motor! my car dosent have near the compression that that truck had so I'm a permenant interstate customer
