Can this CAI kit be used on our v6's?
I'm sure I could create my own for much less, but was wondering nonetheless.
It seems it's meant for tpi cars, but why wouldn't it work on ours as well?
I've got an 88 v6, and it's the same setup practically, right?

i cannot believe there charging that much for that intake. you bet you could make it, i'm doing something almost identical, and although currently incomplete i think i've only spent $12 so far.
btw, mpi and tpi are very similar, pretty much the same thing

Jesus christ that's expensive... Completely unreasonable. They think they can sell that very simple, very un-touched-up setup for the same price that the r!ceboys sell their polished aluminum or chrome arms, bright blue rubber fittings, and colored conicals for? R!cer CAI kits are unreasonable to begin with in terms of price..but this is insane. I don't know what else that company carries..but...screw them for that!

Yep, same intakes for V6 MFPI and V8 TPI, as long as both cars are of the same year and the same make. Ex; a 1986 Firebird 2.8 MPFI has the same intake as a 1986 Firebird 5.0 TPI. A 1988 Camaro 2.8 has the same intake as a 1988 Camaro 5.0 TPI. But a 1987 Firebird 2.8 does NOT have the same intake as a 1989 Camaro 5.0.
(The exception is from 90-92, both Camaros and Firebirds used the same intake setup.)
But I totally agree; your wallet would be better off if you bought the new TPI elbow from a dealer (or if you have the part #, http://www.gmpartsdirect.com ), buying a K&N from Summit Racing, and visited your local Home Depot Speed Shop for the rest.

3" PVC!!!!! i made my own intake....the filter was the most expensive and i did notice a performance gain. go to home depot or someplace and buy a 3" 90* elbow, a 3" 45* elbow and a little peice of straight 3" pipe. works fine.

Wonder if home depot sells those same angle and size pieces in pipe or tubing instead of PVC...I'm going for the all-metal CAI...it's all gonna be chrome and blue with blue fittings and a K&N..... It'll be so purdy

Scroll down. uhh, here:
"We added this system to a 82 Z28 with a transplated LT1 that use a SLP cold air box. Our system made 40 rear wheel horse power! Hard to believe but TRUE !!!! We got the dyno sheet to prove it."
What they forget to mention is that their previous intake system was a wet towel stuffed in the throttle body.
