Help Fast, fuel questions
What are the syptoms of a bad fuel regulator?
What is that round disk thing on the front of the intake in the fuel lines on a 3.1l?? Can I take out and replace with a 2.8l line that dont have it??

where is it?
on fuel rail, that black disk that has a vacuum line atached to it.
Syptoms, might include running rich, running lean no matter the condition of the ignition od other componets.
Typically when a regulator goes bad, the diaphram tears and allows the vacuum line to suck fuel into the intake. This causes hard starting due to flooding, black smoke out of the tailpipe, stalling, poor fuel economy.
The round thing in the fuel line is just a fuel dampner. Is it necessary?? I dunno...the guy that engineered the thing thought it was necessary.........

Ok, thanks for the replys. I wasn't sure if the regulator was bad, but ****, I'm tired of taking that damn plenium off. So it got replace with the one off my 3.4l. Put the stock 15lb injectors back in it. And I went ahead and put that 2.8l line on it, and took out whatever that thingie was. It started, so I'm keeping fingers crossed I fixed whatever it didn't like.
Then I got to play around with my new hood for camaro, and the new fuel rail for my s10 swap. HEHE

For the inspiration to others,
KEEP AT IT!
Hope it works well!
FINALLY!
Again, I used 2.8 MPFI housing & used the internals of the 3.4 same item.
Why not, it was only 10 years (I had a 1995 3.4 mill) newer than my 1985 stuff!

Got a question for you guys, I get about 150 miles on a tank city, kinda hard driving but that = 10mpg, thats more than a damn v8, could my fuel pressure regulator be bad? Any way to test that?

Jesus christ.. You should be trailing black smoke to get economy like that. Simple stuff first....no trouble codes? Replace your O2 sensor....see how much that helps....take it from there with testing other stuff.
Install a Fuel Economy gauge to see how heavy is your foot in city driving.
THEN a tune up.
The gauge is a VACUUM MANIFOLD GAUGE.
This will let you know what your gas tank already does know.
EASE UP ON THE JACK RABBIT MOVMENTS
AND
From one in LA traffic, sometimes ya just can't win.
I installed my hose for the vacuum manifold guage pick up by that black cylinder on the firewall by the windshiled wiper motor.
This guage will pay for itself in one or two tank fulls of SAVED GAS.
Been using them since the second as crisis (BS oil companies!) in 1979.
Worth every $ I spent to purchase gauge.

10 mpg with a heavy foot, with a good O2 sensor, no codes, and tune up done? ***...are your two driving operations brakes and WOT?
