knock sensor question

does anyone know exactly how the knock sensor works? does it use resistance between the plug and ground (block)? if it is just resistance, what is the resistance in the proper working condition? reason for asking is that i am planning to try to bypass it for my new engine. let me know if you got any info on this subject....thanks.

Knock sensor is a microphone. To bypass it use a 3.9 K ohm resistor (1/4 W) from the wire that used to attach to the sensor to ground (engine block, firewall, whatever).

The ECM will think that the sensor is still there.

3.9k
