Wow, that is a poor response.
I'm NOT boasting at all.
I have an f body
It's a v6.
I'm a die hard v6 owner.
I have been spraying since 50,000 miles.
I usually get crap from V8 owners but I think you might be the first fellow v6 owner who has done that.
You, however, are entitled to your views.

And it spins to a 12.48 just to correct you

AGood2.8 is just bitter, and really needs to relax a bit. What's up, James? Haven't seen ya in a while. What brings you to the third gen side? Still go to Englishtown? I haven't been there in years... last time I went, the fuel pump took a dump on me - again! Nuthin' like breaking at the tree to ruin a night AND a weekend.

I went to a 3rd gen gathering earlier today w/ misterjuice.
I figured I'd sign up and just say hi to the eastern 3rd gen's
I was excited to see a v6 section so I thought I'd say hi here.
It wasn't the welcome I was hoping for though

- I don't want to hear it- just here to learn about the 60*v6 tech info like this board is gear for- others are welcome- just don't shame us with your #'s- it looks like boasting.
Please, show me where I was mocking the 60 degree V6???
I am a die hard V6 guy.
This is a V6 board.
I figure I can learn from here also.

One reason I came here was I have been lightening my firebird. One f body guy mentioned to me that some 3rd gen's came with aluminum drum brakes? I figured a 3rd gen board would have info on this. And then I figured that typically V6's have drums from the factory.
I have drums in the rear.
My bird has just dipped under the 3,000 pound mark. I have a SLP loudmouth, light weight seat, and light weight carpet to install for further weight reduction.
This f body guy told me that the aluminum drums weigh almost 10 pounds lighter than the ones I am currently running.
If I had the chance to remove 20 pounds (10 pounds per side) of rotating mass then I am extremely interested.

Now, can we please drop this??

Those are some pretty sweet #'s.
AGood2.8, I don't see where he was mocking the 60*. Most people who mock the 60* say get a V-8, or your car is slow. This guy said nothing other then he has a fast V-6 F-body. Just claim down some, and don't be so quick to jump and call someone down.

And you said 12.95 is 13.00 to you. So if you ow someone $1000, thats close enough to 1100? I wish you owed me money . Just saying if you break 12's your in 12's. If you break 15's you in 15's. Doesn't matther if its down to thousands of a second. I just j/k with you, don't take this personally.

I don't see how he is mocking our 60 degree V6's as well, besides if someone doesn't like the 60 degree V6, oh well!

Anyways welcome to the boards 12SecondV6! That's a pretty fast V6! And I absolutely love those 3.8 motors, my g/f's Lumina has one, nice motor!

Peace,

Sorry about some of the replies that you have received, but we had some guys banned recently and they keep reregistering under different names to try and start some stuff.
Sounds like you got alot of little tips that you could pass along also.

Again I apologize for any hurt feelings.

Here's what I don't get-

I would never go to lets say a first gen camaro site TECH BOARD and say hi and post my timeslip #'s against there straight six motors if I were faster- I would feel its an arrogant slap in their face and I would be a boaster. But hey thats me.

12secondv6 was part of my old "club" at v6fbody.com, he never "Mocked" any of the 3rd gen 2.8/3.1 motors.

A few came with aluminum drums, but you'll have a hard time finding them in junkyards. I think they're even rare through the aftermarket! I think I found some once, before I heard of the aluminum drums; it looked the guy painted them an aluminum color, so I laughed at them, and moved on. Oops.

A good2.8, honestly, I'm just not going to continue with you. I'm not interested in an arguement.

Yup, I am old school, back in the day of www.v6fbody.com

Thanks to the people who gave me warm welcomes.
I'm just out there all over most of the v6 f body board so I can learn more. A lot of times the v6 community is ignored and shunned away by our big v8 brother.

Oh well, I'll be around

Hope to see you around...

12's on any V6 is impressive IMHO. Welcome to the boards. Don't mind the jerks, and feel free to contribute whatever you can.

I do agree with the "shunning" by the v8 people.

Those are good numbers for a slightly modified LS1, let alone a V6 with nearly 2 liters less displacement. I have a 1992 3.1 liter firebird that I spray sometimes. It is only a 75HP shot. I have never had the car to a track, so I haven't got any time slips. I would guess it to be a mid to low 15 second car on the juice. I am judging that by some of the 'street races' I have been in and how they came out.

I do wish my car was lighter, but some of the things I have done and intend to do will only add weight. I changed to the borg warner posi disc brake rear end, added bigger sway bars, and plan on adding subframe connectors. That will add weight.

You could add a fiberglass hood which would save probably 15 pounds over the stock steel one. Lighter rims, aftermarket control arms, etc... Some of them aint cheap, but would cut weight.
