bumperettes going bye bye
project transam conversion is in full effect now....the ground effects were recently acquired, for a total price of 275 bux, all the pieces needed refinishing, and got it (minus clear coat so far) and the front bumper is finally on, giving the car a true muscle look. I finally foudn the two last pieces i was missing in a local boneyard by my school, which were the front right and left fender pieces of the gfx. after those, everything else will be getting read to be put on. To anyone who's done the swap to ground effects just curious if you had any troubles. And does anyone know where you can find some extra mounting rails for some pieces, the damn screws were so rusted that they busted off in my hands. LOL. thanx for any help.

I'm not doing the Full TA ground effects conversion, but I am doing the Front nose conversion from the 85-90 and the rear bumper from an 82-83.
Was it hard getting that front bumper on? What about the airdam?

well, the front bumper actually wouldn't have been very difficult to put on, but, i had some issues that kept things a little more complicated. The bumper we had acquired had been sitting in a bone yard for a while, and the bolts that hold the bumper to the fenders and under hood brace were all screwed up, so we had to pull the existing mounting hardware from the new bumper and trade it w/ the hardware from my old bumper. It all worked out ok, but took a bunch of extra time. to make things easier, we removed the headlight assemblies, so we could reach the bolts on the fenders a with a little more ease. The airdamn i'm using is the same one i had on my car originally, when i put the corners on, it'll replace part of the airdamn, which should make the car sit a little nicer (look better).
What condition were your front bumperettes?
Not sure if I need a better set then what I currently have now.
I recently repaired my other front bumper cover.
I hope to sand off the finish of the other repaired front bumper cover this weekend.

the bumperettes werent in horrible condition, but definately weren't perfect. As my memory recalls there were some scratches on them, and we did a cheapo and quicky paintjob on the front bumper after i rearended a buick...didn't really mess things up much, but the whole bumper wouldn't really be worth anything...bumperettes might be saveable...i'll have to see, if you'd like just PM me about them, sure we can work something out.
