white smoke
its a 84 camaro carbed.
Runs great, no problems, no codes but it has a little bit of white smoke at startup. It will only smoke when first started but after the car has ran for about 1 or 2 minutes it clears up and it no longer smokes. Doesn't smoke at all when driving it.
Any suggestions.
At first i thought it could be the head gasket. But if it was the head gasket, wouldn't it smoke all the time?
The oil looks good, no sign of water or antifreeze. Plenty of power.
Maybe somethin with the carb?

I had the same problem a couple of years ago. I never found out what it was because it went away after I did a tuneup and got my timing reset.
I don't think it would be your carb causing it.

It could be condensation in the exhaust pipes. Mine does it in the morning when I start up, and when I start the car after that say 4 hours later 8 hours later it doesnt puff out a little somke.

obvious answer would be the valve seals. they start to get bad on high mileage engines and its common for them to smoke on startup but then clear up. not a huge concern but should have the seals replaced. probably a good time to do a general rebuild on the engine if its got that many miles on anyway.
