headlight motors
are the headlight motors tha same for 82-92 camaro firebird?
because i went to the junk yard today and pulled both headlight assemblys. there off of a pontiac t/a with the crossfire injection
i believe that would be 84-85 year. well my car is 170 miles away
in storge yet and i cant look at it to compare so i thought someone could look for me on there cars. worst case scenario
ill have to switch motors from the one on my firebird....
the thing is i need the whole pop up assembly!
can some one tell me how many wires they have on theres
or if it will work just fine. thanx..... bruno!

The headlight motors for my 85' Firebird have 3 wires. I think that sometime around 86 or 87 they switched over to a 2 wire motor. I'm not sure what you'd need to do to use a 2 wire motor where a 3 wire motor was or vise versa.

Yep, the two-wire actuator started on 1987 Firebirds.
All that matters is the year of the motor; doesn't matter if it's from a Trans Am or GTA or Formula or regular 'ol Firebird.
Now this is just a guess because I don't have an '87-up Firebird manual, but: I would think that you could put 87-up headlight actuators (motors) on an 82-86 Firebird if you swapped over the whole lights harness.
The lights harness is the smaller of the two "bulkhead" connectors on the driver's side of the firewall. It runs down the top of the driver's side fender, and crosses above the radiator to the passenger side of the front of the car. It has hookups for the marker lights, brake warning light, horns, blinkers, headlights, and headlight motors. If GM left the "in-car" wiring alone, from the fuse box to the headlight switch to the blinker switch, that would mean you could just unplug the 82-86 lights harness at the firewall, and plug in the 87-92 lights harness.
Might be a good idea too because they sell repair kits for the 87-92 actuators. They don't sell repair kits for the 82-86 actuators. (That's why I kept both my headlight motors from my accidents!)
