New Springs

Got some new springs for my future engine swap and was wondering if there were any issues involved in putting in V8 springs while I still have the V6 in the car? How much would this change the stance and has anyone here done this? Please help, car has 183000 miles on the original springs.

Thanks

I believe V6 and V8 springs are the same height. If anything, your ride may sit a little higher, mainly because of the wear and tear on your old springs. Are you changing all 4?

Prolly just the rear two until I actually do the motor swap, can't really tear the entire front end apart in the apartment complex. That and I need to go through all of the steering.

Yeah they aren't much fun to change. Make sure you get them secured nicely before you remove them.

Yeah spring compressor is a must. I've seen them fly, and it wouldn't have been pretty if it hit someone.

all lies, i changes all 4 om my springs in 2 and a hlaf hours with no spring compressor!! all i did was un mount brake lines, unbolt spindle, and unbolt sway bar, drop and the springs come right out, and the new ones go right in!
for the rear, u just unbolt the shock and the swaybar and the same thign happens!

well mine were lowering springs, but same concept.......

All lies? No, they're not.

Sure, it's possible without a spring compressor. I wouldn't say you've got the safest method; I sure wouldn't do it that way, but I'm glad it worked for you.

DaGoat, I have 249,000 miles on the original springs; you're probably still safe for a while.

Thanks, I did take a look at that, but it didn't say anything about how it would affect my stance/ride.

Yeah seems like everyone I found went with a drop. When I searched I couldn't find anyone who kept the 6 in with the new v8 springs. Doesn't matter too much now. I have a v8.
