Backfire...

Dunno if backfire is the right word... I've got a very odd 'pop' from the #6 cylinder. It's not constant. It'll be reving, or idling, and then it'll just go 'POP' and continue idling normal. 30 seconds or so later... one more pop. Always just one pop. Any ideas?

New cap/rotor, just rebuilt the distributor.

A little background - I rebuilt the distributor, as I'm chasing a power loss problem. Driving along, and the car like.. misses. It's not a constant thing, just a quick stumble, but bad enough that the car jerks.

Any ideas?

you rebuilt your distributor... did you set the timing properly? Also check on that ignition module underneath the cap. Get some good dielectric grease and lube up the underside of that module and put it back in. They need a regular greasing every 6 months or so. Hope that helps you out.

Not sure how I'd have the distributor 180º out... I mean, the relationship of cap/rotor/wires only go on one way. If I had teh shaft itself twisted 180º, the car would run indifferently, wouldn't it? The shaft is symetrical - one side is teh same as the other. As long as that rotor spins the right direction, and is pointed to #1 on the cap @ #1 cyl tdc, then all is good
