My pass manifold decided to break the stud onthe ypipe to manifold part and I have a manifold that is pre 85 that have no egrhook up. Is it ok to run without it and will I get any error codes because of it?

Uhm....it will probably run without it, but the car might behave oddly because the computer will still be trying to use the EGR. You probably will throw a check engine light for it... In order to completely disabled the EGR, you'll need to get a PROM chip burned to disable it.
Thats what I thought. Looks like I will be fabing the pre 85 exhaust manifold to accept the egr setup.

on the topic of egr.....on a carbed intake is it alright to run with the egr blocked? 1 person said yes and another said no.....I mean theres no hook-up on my new carb without routeing it through the pcv
Well, the EGR serves two purposes, this is for both computer controlled and carbureted V6/60s..
1) It helps control the air / fuel ratio. By recirculating some exhaust gasses, it will help reduce the amount of air or fuel, depending upon what the carburetor decides (from vacuum).
2) It helps cool the piston tops by recirculating exhaust gasses.
The problems you'll face is that often times, you'll be running rich.
That's more or less the biggest issue. The cooling isn't so much of a problem, but it helps the motor last longer.. as in ring wear.
