3.1 distributor vs 2.8

Do you guys know if a 2.8 distributor will work in a 3.1??? I might be selling my stock peice and the potential buyer is wondering if the timing advance and all that is the same.
I have no clue and I don't want to sell him something he would not be able to use.
Thanks
David

Shouldnt be a damn different thing about it.. Although in the mid 80's designs were changing quite a bit, but I don't think for the distributor...but if it's a late 80's distributor, chances are it's identical to the 3.1 distributor.
