V6 belt question
I was wonderin on my 85 camaro its got a belt that runs to the AC compressor down to the power steering pump(i think thats it) then to the crankshaft.
Can i just pull that belt off(cuz i think i have a bad AC compressor) without it affecting anything??
There is a second belt that runs to the power steering pump but if i remove that other belt will it affect anything???

my 2.8 had 1 belt going to the ps pump pulley. Let's see a pic of the belt, right now if you remove the belt you:
a) have no a/c
and
b) have worser steering than manual steer
edit: does your ps pulley have 2 groves or 1, & is it serp or v belt.

LOL! I just answered this in your "eek something's melting" post!
I have the same setup as you do on my '86; p/s pulley with 2 grooves. I removed my a/c back in '96; only one belt remains on the p/s pump.

If the a/c compressor is causing a problem, you can always yank the drivebelt from it. If it's an old drivebelt (looks glazed and has cracks), you may as well just cut it with a knife and throw it away; then you don't have to take the other two belts off.
And if all 3 are old, think about changing the belts soon...
