Whats causing my exhaust to sound louder?

Yesterday while driving, my exhaust became louder than usual. I was wondering what would cause it to be louder?

I checked the exhuast and there are no visible breakage points or holes.

Could something wrong with the engine cause it to be louder too?

muffler could be rotting out. is it the original muffler? might also be the cat, im not sure how the cat affects the sound tho. but it could definetely be your muffler rusting inside.

what usually rots first is the tail pipes.
look the the bends coming out of the muffler.
therein I bet your problem will lie.

I got under my car today and noticed a considerable size hole in the underside of the muffler. It was a dynomax catback I got in 2000.

How long are mufflers suppossed to last?

What muffler should I get now? Any good choices?

I think I'll put some protectant coating on once I get it installed.
