Warm Stall
Engine Hesitates when warm
I have a 87 2.8 w/5spd
I have changed all the wires, plugs, rotors, cap, fuelfilter
After the engine Warms up about 3-4 miles of driving it starts to chug really bad and has almost a complete loss of power.
My thought is the fuel pump.
Could it be the O2 sensor or the fuel pump relay?
I would like to replace all likely suspects before tackling the pump. Normally I would not mind changing the pump however a previous owner had the exhaust system completely welded in.
Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated!

Woah, don't just jump on the fuel pump!! Buy the $40 test gauge for it and make sure the pump's dead before you go changing it out. Don't buy/borrow a gauge for carbureted motors because the fuel injection gauges use higher pressure- my gauge goes up to 80 psi. Buy one for "port fuel injection".
The car runs great when cold but bad when warm? Might be the ignition module dying.

Bad Coil?
Tom,
Thanks for the response.
Two items that have not been changed are the coil and the ignition module. The Coil and surrounding wires dont look very good. I am going to change this item first. I jiggled the wires and the car stalled. This seems like if it was the problem it would be all the time not just after a few miles?
The cars starts fine when cold. It still seems like it lacks power when cold however. After about 3-miles it has a bad stumble and seems to miss. It does not stall and the miss seems more from starvation than a bad cylinder like if there was a fouled plug. The miss is almost like the engine is struggling to make any type of power.
After it cools down it runs for another 3-4 miles before this reoccurs.
Could the Coil and or Ignition module cause this?
this fix is much easier than replacing the fuel pump. System is welded solid from the cat. I will have to cut.
Thanks for any help.

I'm having the same problem!!! I have replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, oxygen sensor, plug wires, rotor, cap and today I put a new coil on. None of this changed anything!!! The only thing I can think of now is either the ignition module or pickup coil is bad. Let me know if you get yours running right, and I'll let you know if I fix mine. My wife is gonna kill me if I waste anymore money on this car and if I can't fix it I might let her!
