fuel cell in a thirdgen

i have a 84 firebird that has had alot of aftermarket work done to it, i have my car on the lift at work now and ive discoverd all my fuel lines are in rough shape. they have rust all over with flakes coming off. This is starting to scare me and looking at the price to do all the lines from my mech fuel pump all the way to the tank is not cheap, could i put in a fuel cell some how and run the an fittings like ive done from the pump up to my carb. if so please give ideas and help fuel hints . thanks agian jarred

I have checked around a little bit myself on this topic and have ot come up with an aftermarket racing fuelcell that will petty much bolt up into the shape configuration we are dealing with. WEverything I have seen needs to be somewhat custom fit to make work.

What I do know is that late model performance package (1LE) cars all came with baffled fuel tanks and do not cavitate like ours do.- They are same exact shape and bolt right in. Fuel gauge float and pump all the same design and shape, just higher volume pumps in the v8 cars.

Question now is- are they baffled, and do they fit exactly the same as ours? Or could there be some sort of a clearance problem with the axle- especially on a lowered vehile- its a guessing game until someone actually tries it.

Externally they are very similiar, internally is where they are baffled. Actually 82-92 tanks are baffled also just later model tanks have more compartments to prevent fuel slosh. Glad I have carbed cars, I never want to replace a fuel pump in any year FI fBody again. Did a 99 and a 96 TA in the same week, 99 was plastic with the e-clip no hammer required your pump probably wont work, 96 was odler style like ours.
