So i finaly set my timing!!!
Last night i finaly had a chance to set my timing. So i go losten the holddown bolt disconnect the wire by the strut tower and go to fire my car up. Well it cranks so i try again and it cranks again then i see all this smoke comming up from the center of my enigne. So i take the key out go to see what was smoking. The smoke kept getting worse and worse. Well it turnes out my ignition module that i got 3 months ago cought fire. It was a holley anilator. so i go to autozone to get a new module well they dont have one for a v-6 so i ended up getting one for a 350 TPI camaro. Exactly the same. SO i go hook everythign back up and everything worked fine. Anyways what is the difference between the v6 module and a v8 module. And why did my ignition module catch fire. It was only on the side were the 2 wires go in not the saide where 4 go in.

Damn, looks like my engine bay a while back, only less melting
No difference between the 6 & 8 module.
ON the 2 pin side, it goes to the coil.

Holy crap; that's not cool!! Give Holley a call! Damn! Maybe you can get a free module out of the deal. Even if you didn't use the heat sink grease (which I'm pretty sure you did), I can't see the friggin' thing catching fire like that- it's gotta be a defect.
There's no difference between a v8 or v6 module. Your local parts store was just being stupid. (Go ahead and look 'em up at expressautoparts.com or carparts.com or partsamerica.com; you'll see the same AC/Delco part number for both modules for v6 and v8.)

MAN, YOU NEED A MANICURE!!!!!
YOU melted your ICM?
Nice trick.....
When the new one was installed, did the same problem occur?
I discovered, in ALL my SIX replacement missions, all the connections go only "one way".
You recall my overcharging spiking alternator episode....
Did you visit your "replacement" at Autozone for help in part selection?
Check the wires going to the ICM now, the outter wire cover may be damaged.
Have you rebuilt the distributor yet?
After what happened, you may need to now.
When ya installed the ICM, did you make sure the "vent holes" in the distributor are clear, not covered in gook? Take brake cleaner to the vent holes and give then a few squirts of cleaner.
In the end, ALL ICMs seem to be the same "for our V6" no true performance advantage between one brand or the next.
When can I visit you at your Grams for getting stuff?
When can I see your Firebird? Especially on the road!
