Ticking....

Hey guys. Last night and yesterday afternoon (9/19) when the car gets warmed up after about 20 minutes, when I brake I get this weird ticking noise for 5 minutes. Can anyone tell me what that is? Is it something in the head? Or is it the brake pump?
Its a 3.1 V6 with Multi Port Fuel Injection. Thanks alot.

Phil

It's only when you brake? And it continues after you let off??

It happens after the car is warmed up. When I brake on a hill or on a slight incline it starts and goes on continually for about 5 minutes and stops. Someone said it was a brake pump but now that i've thought about i've never head of a brake pump. So could it possibly be my master cylinder is going bad?

Sounds to me like what an ABS system does when it malfunctions. ABS systems will tick while they are pulsating under hard braking conditions. If the setup is altered or something is malfunctioning, then the ticking can continue longer than programed.

Problem here is- You don't have ABS- unless someone added it.

It's coming from the engine bay back near the distributor. Someone said if could possibly be an exhaust leak but i'm not sure.
