Check this out this website shows how to get restoration information on camaros from chevrolet for free. Its basicly like the Pontiac Restoration Information. The site tells you how to get it and i called GM and they are going to send me the packet free Thats right you wont have to pay 1 penny. And it is actualy through GM. You dont have to send the people at the website the information if you dont want to. Here is the link it will explain it better. REMEBER ITS FREE. You will how ever have to provide GM with your vin to prove you own a camaro.

True, no one has to but it would be appreciated for the thought of making that page and describing how it is done.

You mean me.. (notice the signature) :-)

The pages are used to add more information to our Yearly Info Database (currently containing over 800 pages and over 600 variations of Camaro's)

You also get your own Camarosource.ca Membership card with your own Camaro picture on back.

What year Camaro? Are you US or Canadian?

Ah ok. I'm glad I was able to provide for you the information. You don't need to send the package to me as 1991 is one of the years that I have already received from someone.

You won't be disappointed when you receive your 1991 restoration package :-)

It's 53 pages (perhaps more if I miscounted) Double sided. so 106 pages of information in total.

I got my packet yesturday i was amazed waht was in there everything you can think up it had specs to the engine tranny with the gear ratios all the RPO codes a packet for people who have restoration parts. It is exactly like the pontiac one they sell for 45 bucks that i got for my 68 firebird. But the chevy one is free. Thank camarosource. Hey your web site shows you dont need any more infor for 91 camaros or for 94 camaros but everyone else send one there way since he made this possible.

Thank you very much!

I'm glad you like it. It's some pretty amazing information of those restoration packages. I'd like to collect all that I can to help share the information on the site for everyone else.

They won't send you it to canada. It's a US only feature. They will guide you to the Canadian Distibutor who charges $45 for the package. However this is not the same package. This $45Cdn package is based on your exact MODEL and not the entire year like in the US version.

Which card are you referring to? Those who send us the copy for copying (or copy and send us the copy) will receive the free Camarosource.ca membership card.

When did you send it? I don't recall you contacting me regarding it. No one has yet to send the restoration kit to us.

When did you contact me?

I think you misunderstood somewhere. I never said you could not get one. I think you thought I meant that the card isn't send to Canadian's. :-)? I meant the restoration kit (GM won't send the kit) without paying $45 for the other type of kit.

What year do you have?

1967, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1971, 1972, 1973, 1974, 1975, 1976, 1977, 1978, 1979, 1980, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1990, 1993, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002

are the years needed.

Sure.

You can either it dropped off at a copy place and have it copied then I'll let you know the address to mail the copy to.

Or you may mail your original to me (again, i'll let you know the address to mail it to), and i'll make a copy of it and mail your original back to you.

Once mailed to us, I'll send you an email with the instructions on the form to fill out to get your card done, and how to include a picture for the back. Once the package is received and copied, I'll mail the card with your kit back to you (if I copied it) or simply mail the card to you (if you gave me a copy of the kit).

Thank you very much for your help.

Do you mean you have the restoration kit for 1983? Sure, we are needing 1983 still as well. :-)

I just called for the restoration information, it's on it's way and they also reminded me I have a safety recall I can get fixed (seat belts latches) and gave me a bunch of web addresses where I can get parts. They said it would take 3-6 weeks for the papers to get here, is that the norm?

Yep.. All depends on where you are in the US and the other order for kits that were requested before you.

i got mine in about a week

I haven't seen the information offered yet.
This all sounds like what GM (1-800-222-1020-Chevy customer service) sent me back in 80's about my 1967 Camaro.
It's the engine tech sheets (some part numbers included), vehicle weight, RPO codes, cost for the options.
It's all xeroxed stuff from those GM files, correct?
With my GM stuff, I also got information about my 1967 & the NHRA Stock racing class specs. This information corresponded with the same specs in the HELMS shop manuals. Chevy Customer serivce calls it a "restoration" package.

FAST RS, I am MOST ANXIOUS to see the stuff Pontiac Historical sent you, as that is to include the dealer order copy form sent to create your Firebird. I'll show ya what GM/Chevy sent me years ago.

Sorry, very suspicious/uneasy to give away a VIN number for my rides as how it "COULD" be abused. NOT by yourself, but by others. Not even thrilled to have a license plate seen on the WEB.

TOO many WRONG people out there ready to abuse information.
Latest big scam going on right now is FAKE college loan applications & the REAL received funds, by people who got/stole a student loan applicant SS number.

AGAIN to make this crystal clear, YOU are NOT abusing the required supplied VIN information, it's how easy it is to dump on a person, by others, once they somehow get the information.

Hmm.. I'm not sure what's you're referring to how anyone could abuse your or anyone elses VIN by this. You are sending your VIN to GM. Not me or anyone else.

GM already knows you own the car, your license tells GM who owns what.

When I got/took up GM Customer Service on their offer for restoration kits (back in the 80's), I only told them I own this year car & what make of the Chevy line. Nothing else was asked.

I m very leery of offering alot of information over the internet, it seems someone will figure out a way to abuse information. I'm only "CMA" (covering my a$$)!
AGAIN I am saying YOU are NOT abusing the information, but someone can (phony license plates, fake car registrations, fake VINs to sell a hot stolen car). In Corvette Fever Q & A's MANY MANY TIMES the VIN of a car (stated in the readers Q) is disguised so that VIN is NOT forged/duplicated to make a certain lowly Corvette a more desirable model. I've noticed that practice has been going on since the 1990's when I first subscribed. I also own a 1974 Corvette.
To me a cars' VIN/license plate is as personal/private as my SS number.

If someone really wants your VIN/Plate number, all they have to do is walk up to the car when your in the grocery store. They can't do that with your SS number.

I AGREE
YET
IF the party is "doing" this outta state, to "sell" a hot car,
This parctice of not giving out VIN's has been endorsed by car magazines since the I've been subscribing to Corvette Fever. That practice is especially common for a Corvette. One can take a certain model 1967 Corvette (say a 1967 327-300, a low price to sell model) and see a VIN specific to a L88 1967 Corvette, make the phony documents to "support" the car to be sold and make an extra $100,000 profit by "faking" that car (swap out engines, restamp the 427 engine/tranny/frame/VIN tag). This would NOT be the first time that has happened.

I'm just one that likes to lessen to odds of my life being dumped on cause SCUMone needs a quick buck.

I also keep the VIN covered in the windshield on my cars for the reason you just offered.
Drives parking ticket people up the wall.

Computers can do very GREAT work these days. Ask the US Department of Treasury about counterfiting.

I firmly believe NO ONE on this board would do that, but again, I just like to lessen the odds of it happening to my life.
Yeah anyone can steal a license plate.
I only hope they not choose mine and run a red light camera! That is very handy for pulling a "Rob & Run" bank heist close by an intersection with those installed cameras!

What I just don't understand is why you would feel there could be VIN theft with this. Like i've said already, you are NOT sending VIN's to ME... you are sending them to GM.. You either EMAIL THEM or CALL THEM.

GM ain't going to steal your VIN.

I think you guys are thinking you are sending ME VIN's. This has nothing to do with me.

Again, crystal clear YOU CAMAROSOURCE are NOT "using the VINs" nor "attempting to misuse" them. I stated that several times before & also now.
Hey you are helping us all get a cool item!

When I called the CHEVY CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER 800-222-1020 back in the 80's/90's NO MENTION was asked of "give me a VIN so you can get this". I just said to the voice on the other end I have this car & they said, we'll send the package to ya, what's your addresss. In mail the Chevy Car Restoration Package came.
That's my story.
Actually when I first did this request of the car restoration kit, they also sent me GM Press Release photos (what ya see in magazines). When I called back several years later on, "We no longer do that, due to no more pics left!"
I got GM Press Release pics of my 1960 Chevy Wagon (my FIRST CAR when I was 13), 1961 Corvette, 1966 Corvette, 1967 RS/SS Camaro Convertible & 1974 Corvette T Top, from my first initial call to that Chevy 800 number.
