code 54 ?
Hi, I am new to this board. Unfortunetly for me I just found out about this place about a week ago, so if I ask a question that some of you veterans have to repeat yourselves don,t flame me too badly.
I have had my Camaro for 2 yrs and it has 65k mi. About a month ago it started running like crap. It is very hard to start I actually have to press repeatedly on the gas pedal to get it to start. Once running the check engine light comes on and car runs rough and there is a significant loss of power. If I shut the engine off and restart it the check engine light goes off.
Now for the bad part I took the car to the local Chevy dealer and told them the above, they did a code scan and code 54 came up. He said that it was the fuel pump relay and all they did was checked the connector (looked fine) and cleaned and adjusted the connector. All this service for the fine price of 37 dollars. The best part is he said when he restarted the car the check engine light did not come on and the car ran fine.
Needless to say the light still comes on and the car still runs like crap. If that tech thinks that it is a good running engine then he needs a good kick in the a$$.
Sorry for the long post, but any help you guys can give me without having to throw away anymore money will be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim

Thanks bes217, I will pick one up today and see what happens.
Edit. Installed the relay and the car starts right up and runs great.
Thanks again.
