Any of you have a factory air cleaner for the 2.8 TBI laying around? I am working on a Jeep Cherokee 2.8 that I just put a TBI setup on. I have very little hood clearance, and I know the CamBirds don't have any, either. I would like to try one of these.


Anyone?

 

no v6 camaro came with tbi. Strait from carb to mpfi.

v8 had tbi.

I carb air cleaner may work. What about an s10 air cleaner?

 

S10 cleaner WAY too tall. Okay, I meant Firebird. I KNOW for a fact that there were 2.8 V6 TBI 'Birds.

 

nope, no firebirds either that I know of. camaro and firebird swapped at same times, with same injection style.

 

Okay, I remember our old club president's GF's car. It was a 2.8 V6 TBI. He wanted me to get an air cleaner from a 305 with the sideways hoodscoop, and we wanted to see if it would fit the V6.

 

Really, no V6 F-body came w/tbi. Carb to MPFI. 89 Turbo was SFI .

Might have to break down & get a drop base air cleaner housing.

 

305 is not v6, its a v8.

HE WANTED TO SEE IF THE 305 AIR CLEANER WOULD FIT THE V6.

 

the openings on the tb are the same 5.125/5.25. Same as carb also.

Only problem from putting it on would be the angle which the neck would come off, and if it hits any of the engine accessorys.


On my old s10 truck when it was tbi, I bought a cheap 9" diameter chrome carb air cleaner, then special ordered a 3" tall k&n filter. You might want to look into that, but with a shorter filter like 1.75 or 2, whatever is needed.

 

No 3rd Gen FBody EVER came with a TBI v6.

It is possible however that somebody could have swapped a TBI from an S10 into an FBody.
