How can I remove tire from rim?

I want to paint my rims and I need to know the easiest or best way to take the tire off.I am going to get a new set of tires anyway, but it would be better if I remove them from the rims.Any suggestions?

-Ken

Use a bumper jack if you have one and a crow bar. I also heard of a method using a spring compressor.. Don't know how to do that though. I painted my rims with the tires on it.. just use alot of masking tape and painters plastic.

ask around a few shops.... and its better to ask in person... you'll find someone local to do it for free/cheap.

Why remove tires at all?
Paint rim and protect tires best ya can.
They will be removed when ya get the new tires shortly, anyway.
I've seen the sledge hammer trick at a wrecking yard.
I'll bring the wheel to someone else with the right tool, a real tire changer!

Ya know I just saw an add for some $20 adjustable metal ring that is meant for painting rims. It like hooks into the outer edge. Wasn't eastwood and I can't find it now.
