Engine light comes on when left on park while running

Whats up with that? As soon as I switch to D the Engine light turns off. This only happens if i park somewhere with the car running after a couple of minutes.

We did that already a while ago and I can't remember which code was exactly but I do remember it had something to do with the idle or something. I'm pretty sure the timing is messed up.

It's your idle air control valve. the SES light comes on 22 seconds after ideling when the computer can't get the desired RPM within ~100rpms.

Might just need cleaning, or you can get a new one from Autozonefor $45 (special order)

To be absolutely sure, he should still pull the code out. Heck, I'm on my original 1986 IAC motor with 261,000 miles on it. (And original TPS and CTS, too!) Maybe the IAC system just needs to be cleaned. See my message here: https://www.thirdgen.org/techbb2/sho...hreadid=175177

He could have a lean idle (mine does...) I get a light if I idle for 45 sec or so. I still havn't been able to find the cause.... Fuel press is fine, EGR working, IAC good, O2 good (going in and out like it's supposed to), TPS works good, I'm runnin 16 deg. advance w/ 89 oct. Still get thea code 44....

Yep. I get the exact same thing when I'm sitting at idle for an extended period of time. I am also having problems getting my idle down below 1000. I can sometimes get it to come down by stepping on the accelerator and letting off quickly though.

I have the idle problem too, maybe its the iac as far as the idle goes. ? im gonna replace my o2 this summer and see if the 44 goes away.

to brobert-

It won't go away, I've already tried that Your best bet is to try and find the reason for it running lean at idle (heck, I can't even find the reason and I got a snap-on scanner!). As far as I know quite a few things can cause it (TPS, bad o2, Lean injectors, intake leaks, bad MAF). If you ever get yours fixed, let me know how it went down...

My car doesnt run lean, this is why im replacing the o2 sensor. Also it looks to be the original one.
