Arg!!!

Well guys, just had to replace the timing chain. 529 miles on it, and it snapped! Obviously defective. 3.1's running good again, but I broke a motor mount, so that's getting replaced tomorrow morning.

Now the 'arg!' part...

/rant

No tracks are open until January! I have to wait until January 14th, to find out how much extra power the 3.1 and MTC-5 cam are getting me?? ARG! Maybe by then I'll have the mandrel bent 3" exhaust on the car....

Well, little over two weeks away, should give you time to tweak a few other little problems.

I forsee traction problems

No kidding. 2k clutch drop = tire-frying first gear. On the track, it's going to be even worse!

I'm not buying it. You put that Schwin kiddy bike chain on to check for duribilty on a drunk bet. Especially since you still didn't specify which 3.1 the chain broke on

That blows!

Was it an OEM part? Timing componets are usually best bought from the dealer or "performance" brands....Stay away from PEP BOYZ in tha hood, Auto"no parking"Zone And O'reily (And CARQUEST)

I WAS going to say if you were concerned about losing low end with that 3" exhaust, but then I thought....well first the turbo naturally, but second...it might help with your traction!

Yep, Dynagear 3 piece set. Generally a pretty good piece. I swapped it out with a Cloyes link-style 3 piece, no extra cost.

Nixon, I actually think the 3" will help my upper end much more than it's going to knock the lower end. ESPECIALLY with the 16G blowing.

Besides, I want a straight through Bassani muffler back there, and 3" back just seems right for the mighty 3.1

I really need to get a recording of the idle. It sounds mean idling @ 750rpm. Nice little lope to the 6

And yeah, if anyone really wants to argue the backpressure thing again, let me take you for a ride in the 3.1. No cat at all (straight pipe), and as little backpressure as I can get - the pull in 4th gear from 1000rpm up is just insane (for a 6, of course, lol)
