Help ASAP
My fuel return from the fuel rail will not stop leaking. I have tried a new O-ring, 2 new O-rings and tightening it as much as it can, but it just continually leaks. What can I do to stop it? I'm running out of time.

Are you talking about the rubber flex hose that goes to the fuel return line on the rail or the connection where the flex hose connects to the return line from the tank? Have you ried replacing the flex hose?
Just a thought!!!!!!!!!

I'm not sure that I'm following you here. You say that it is leaking where the return line connects to the fuel rail. You have the fuel return line (metal) that runs from the tank to the engine compartment, it connects to a short flexible hose that then connects to another short metal line that connects to the metal line that plugs into the fuel pressure regulator. Are you talking about where the flexible hose connects to the short metal line or where the short metal line connects to the line going into the fuel pressure regulator. If it is at the point where the short line that runs under the alternator connects to the line for the fuel pressure regulator. I had to disconnect the brackets that hold both lines before I could get mine on straight and tight.

It's leaking at the fuel rail? You DID hand screw the lines in, before even getting near them with a wrench, right? If you forced them on, I'm betting on stripped threads - which means it's basically FUBAR'd.

it was where it goes into the FPR I guess, but on mine it doesn't go directly into the fpr. I got it to stop, I don't know how, but it stopped. All I did was take it off and put it on, and try it, then take it off and start over. Eventually I guess I got it right b/c it isn't leaking. Seems like it would only go in one way though
Thanks guys

And no, stripped threads doesn't mean you're SOL. Mine has been that way for months now and I probably should go out and get a Helicoil for it, but JB Weld and a new o-ring did the trick for now. I just have to keep that particular fitting set together when I remove the fuel rail so I don't have to spend 10 minutes forcing the two fittings back together. And yes, I am talking about the connection that is actually on the fuel rail.

That's the bitch about the fuel rail; it's aluminum- so it strips out easily. I'd imagine you could always get a rail from a junkyard for cheap... that is, if you remove the injectors first.
Oh and if you DO get a junkyard rail, leave all the metal pipes connected to the rail!! Just break the connection at the hoses!!
Note that when I changed out my fuel injectors, I left all the hoses & pipes (except for the 85-89 cold start injector tube) connected- I just removed the clips holding the metal tubes to the engine, and swung the fuel rail out (on it's flex rubber hoses) to where I could work on it.
You can even see a less-careful-picture of the fuel rail hanging over my friend's Camaro's fender here- http://www.geocities.com/tomp_3rdgen - check out picture 5, you can see the fuel injection hoses hanging over the fender by the windshield washer reservoir. I'm sure this stressed out the hoses, but we didn't leave it that way for long.

Well, after all, you are in California (not going to say what I think about that state) and there are probably hundreds of junkyards there (for reasons I'd rather not say). Here in my area in NY, there's only ten reasonably distanced junkyards near me and only three or four have any Thirdgens at all in them, none having any decent parts because they have alredy been taken....
I happen to like that discount you mentioned... it got me a decent set of T-tops, not that I need them now. I thought I might need them because mine were leaking, but all I needed was a decent set of weatherstripping pieces for the tops... Want them?

junkyard parts are so cheap, there is no point in stealing them. besides it's bad carma to steal things that could break. also, if people rip off jankyards too much eventually ALL junkyards will go to the "WE pull it YOU pay twice as much" system instead of the "YOU pull it and save" system. everyone one on this board complains when there cars get broken into, well, if you can tell me stealing a car radio is wrong but stealing junkyard parts is right then you are beyond help. sorry to be a downer but theft bothers me alot, i work retail AND have had my car broken into, kind of a sore spot.
on another subject, HOW THE HELL DID Maverick H1L FIT T-TOPS IN HIS SOCK???

another reason that junkyards are going to we pull it, you pay X% more, is for insurance, incase someone has a car drop on them when they were underneath it trying to pull an axle or something.
I miss FM600 just north of Abeline TX. You pull it, pay for it. If it didn't work, bring it back & they'll hook ya up

Not in my sock!
My dad had pulled the car around so I could put the stuff I actually paid for in the back, I already had removed the tops so I could get the back seat out, so I just stuffed them in with the rest of the stuff...
And my local thirdgen junkyard relies on the "YOU pull it, YOU pay twice as much, WE pull it, YOU pay a heck of a lot MORE" They have ripped me off twice now, but that is the only one local to me so I'm SOL....
