3.1 roller lifters

Can anyone help me out here, I am looking to find out if the 3.1 V6 has roller lifters, and what year/application they were used in.
If anyone has some out of an engine I would appreciate some measurements too. I am also looking to buy 16, or 8 pair if anyone has some for sale. There is a post in the classifieds under parts wanted. Thanks- Jim

Only the SFI 3100 and 3400 came with a roller cam and roller lifters. If your doing a stock camshaft this is fine , there is no aftermarket grinds for this type of cam. Only used in the 3100 and 3400 , not an Iron head 3.1.

On the flip side there are a few companies that carry aftermarket roller lifters for the 2.8/3.1 and carry hi performance roller grinds. Iron head.

Actually, I plan on using the parts in a V8. I heard that these are the lifters to use when swapping a hyd. roller into a non-roller block. Apparently they are shorter than V8 roller lifters, which is whats needed in a non-roller V8 block. I still trying to confirm this though, so if anyone has some to measure for me I would greatly appreciate it. Having soem for sale is even better.

614(?)- do you know where to be aftermarket (or stock) 3100 or 3400 roller lifters? Can you give me a link or company name? Part numbers would be great too.Thanks

Hmm never heard that. Best I can do is tell you to call a dealer or go to a junk yard. Im curious , why not just buy the retro roller lifters made specifically for this conversion?? They make lifter kits that dont require any machine work to slap in a roller cam in a non roller block. SBC.

Somone with no money did some experimenting once upon a time and discovered the 3.1 roller lifters were a lot cheaper than the retrofit rollers from the cam makers. and worked great.

Sometimes broke people come up with some cool ideas.

Exactly Eric, they are cheaper, especially if found used- but even new, they save about $100,and thats after the cost of buying used retainers. The cost of modifying the block is only drilling and tapping three holes in the valley.
