700R4 -> T5 swap, Help please!!
I just bought a T5 out of a v6 from a junk yard. What other parts should I get off the car? I tried to get the pedal setup but even after getting the four main nuts off and then the other 2 on those bars off, they still would not come out of the car! The car is still there and laying flat on the ground so no one can get at the flywheel, pressure plate, clutch, master or slave cylinders. I have to go back down whenever the snow melts and I get time but are there any other things i shoudl get?
Thanks

sawz-all & cut out the assembly. Yes, I've read of people doing that. Also, incase you haven;t read/found it yet, Swapping auto for stick in out cars from the tech articles on this site.

I tell people to just get the whole drives side floor cut out. You then have everything together and in one piece for the swap.
You will also have a nice hole to find the other parts through.

DO NOT use a sawz-all.. the assembly *does* come out.
There is a bolt at the top of the assembly that holds it in place.. 13mm.. almost impossible to access directly.. it's long as hell, takes about as much time to remove as the 4 on the brake booster. To locate, lay on your back, head under the dash, butt in the seat, and look *directly* up.. you might have to shift back and forth a bit to get an angle to see it, but it's there. After that, with a little maneuvering, it'll slide right out. The other 2 bolts you removed should go back in.
Get the plug for the reverse light switch.. it'll make life easier down the road. Shift boots, if in decent condition.. the center console top plate (can be very hard to find)
If you don't have gauges, now is probably a good time to snag the instrument cluster, depending on the year of your car vs. the donor.

Shift boots were crap but I actually found two shift plates in the yard. Got them at a great price. Why should I get the gauges? is there a difference between auto and manual gauges?
They're a paint to get out, but it's possible. When I was getting my manual pedals out of the junkyard, I spent about 2 hours laying on my back under that frickin dash in 100 degree weather. It sucked horribly, but it only cost me $3 ($1 per pedal).
You're going to have to drop the steering column to get to that top bolt, and even then it's still a pain in the ***. Oh yah, if the drivers side door sill is gone, put something over it. I cut the hell out of my arm while I was laying there and didnt even notice until after I was done.
Grab the slave cylinder and flywheel if it's in decent shape too. I took the driveshaft too, because I'm not sure if the automatic is different from the manual.
Also the problem with the gauges could be if you're switching between cable and electronic gauges. My 5 speed was from an 85, and it's going into a 91. I've heard I need to find a electronic VSS for my gauges to funtion.
Hope that helps....
