Anyone done any major porting on 2.8/3.1/3.4 heads?

Redraif's have a good gasket match and some chamber and bowl work, but its all very minor. Anyone done any max-effort porting?

Her combo is a stock 3.4 short block with 2.8 heads (same as the 3.4), a cam with about .470 lift and 220 duration, PF&E headers, and 19 lb Ford injectors. The intake has been opened up a bit also, basically a gasket match.

I have a set of 2.8 Fiero heads (no advantage I know, but I have them so no $$$) that we're planning to mill slightly for a compression bump, install new stainless valves with a good multiangle valve job, and possibly upgrade to better valvesprings (stiffer), screw in studs and 1.6 roller rockers for a little extra breathing.

My main question had to do with the bump in the intake ports; I have read where some say don't mess with them, others say sharpen them like a shark fin, others possibly removing them. Keep in mind this is a 3.4 with a healthy cam, convertor, and gears, so what works on a 2.8 may not necessarily be best for this 3.4. Any suggestions from anyone with a max effort 6o degree v6?

I was told on here not to remove that vain. However I know doward made his like a fin, and that is the only set I have seen modified.

Actually, that was Lee7 that made his like a fin...

Doward took his, ground it smooth, and mearly killed the cliff behind it - smoothed everything out.

I would wait a little bit longer.
The 60* V6 is being reintroduced to the motoring world in various forms of larger displacements & head designs & N-S & E-W engine bay configurations.
I do know that GM should be releasing some disected diagrams of those "World Class" engines very soon.
I believe the engine first appears in the 2005 Caddy that I recetnly saw driving in the Van Nuys, CA area.
The HP apparently starts about what 200 to 240 HP?
GM engineers did something.
Imagine a DOHC CONVERSION SET UP for a RWD block engine bay!
I understand one version will be "just that way".
I would want the whole engine from a wrecked new car, tho just for the larger engine block size & the upgraded engine block internals. I understand the oil pan is very important to this engine due to harmonics & the extra lower block strength provided.

Attached is a pic of my V8 186 heads one I've ported & polished. This one head took me ten hours of "learning" from a guy who does it alot.

Have ya thought of cutting down the valve stems for better flow? Add to polishing the back sides of the valves with emory clothe & a drill? A 5 angle valve job instead of only 3?
